Poetry / Letterpress Print Collab - Craft Festival
This is print 2 of 3 of a triptych of prints designed, made and conceived at Craft Festival Wales - as part of my collaboration with Nick Hand of The Letterpress Collective.
I had the great and lofty honour, of being Poet in Residence at the brilliantly inspiring event and these prints are some of the fruits of that time.
Our collab ‘strategy’ involved an early morning café rendez-vous, with me writing out my craft-inspired daily stanza of poetry onto a slip of paper, folding it and passing it across to Nick, who then marked out favourite words and phrasing.
Then it was a quick shuck of the last of our coffees, before heading back to our stand to set out the letters, choose colours, chat layout, choose paper.
*
We sold these fresh as baked bread each day of the festival, but they also took all day to do - so we each have a few left to share with you.
Spec: these are printed onto pages from an old book, called 'Museum of Animated Nature' - a bit larger than A4 in burned orange ink.
Prints overlaid onto animal illustrations / text. No two prints are the same so it's a bit of a lottery!
Please flick through the images to see the different variants.
Limited Edition, each signed and numbered by Nick H and I.
NB:
1. The paper for these is delicate, well-loved and a touch brittle at the edges - but this stanza works so beautifully on this paper, it's worth it!
2. These were printed 'live' and so every single one of these prints is unique, with small discrepancies and inflections/idiosyncrasies between each one. I think this all adds to their charm :)
